Work package 3: Reservoir simulations and quantification of leakage rates

By combining the work from WP1 and WP2, the range of static and the dynamic hydraulic properties for the migration path out of the storage reservoir and up along of the Vette fault is estimated. Using these effective hydraulic properties to account for flow both along the fault and across the fault, we can quantify the leakage rates out of the reservoir and in the overburden.

We approach this problem by incorporating local fault flow into an existing full-field model for CO2 storage in the Smeaheia case study and we aim to quantify multi-dimensional leakage curve and its uncertainty envelope, resulting in upper bounds on fault parameters to act as an effective seal.
